That's All Folks
The season came to a close this past weekend as the team sailed in two regattas. Halsey Richartz, Mike Russom, Ali Zablocki and Amanda Veccione traveled up to Cornell for the Atlantic Coast Tournament. Unfortunately there was very little wind and only four races were sailed per division. Despite this, they managed to finish 9th overall, and were the highest finishing MAISA Team. The Women's team made up pf Amanda Johnson, Emma Kofmhel, Kelsey Schoenrock, and Marina Reppucci traveled to Brown for the Woman's ACCs. There was only slightly more wind at their regatta, but after eight races per division the girls finished in 17th. Thank you to everyone who helped us out with this great season, and we look forward to starting up again in the spring.
Quakers are MAISA Fall Champions and Qualify for Women's ACCs
This weekend Penn sailed in two regattas. The the coed team travveled to the MAISA Club Championships. Halsey Richartz and Mike Russom skippered while Christina Johns, Amanda Veccione, and Ali Zablocki where in the front of the boats. Both boats sailed great and won their divisions. They combined to win 13 of the 36 races, making Penn MAISA Club Champions. The womens team had an equally successful weekend, down at ODU for MAISA Women's Fall where Skippers Amanda Johnson and Emma Kofmhel, along with crews Kelsey Schoenrock and Marina Reppucci came in sixth place and earned a spot next week at the Womens Atlantic Coast Championship. Stay tuned for results next weekend where Penn will sail in the Women's ACCS and Atlantic Coast Tournament.
Penn Qualifies for Atlantic Coast Tournament
Over this past Halloween weekend, the Penn Sailing Team sent two teams down to Maryland, one to St. Mary's for the War Memorial Trophy and one for the Top 9 regatta. Halsey Richartz, Mike Russom, Ali Zablocki, Emma Kofmhel, and Kelsey Schoenrock traveled to St. Mary's where they came in 11th place. Although they did not qualify for Atlantic Coast Championship, they did qualify for the Atlantic Coast Tournament in Cornell. A little further North Rafe Pilling, Christina Johns, Lauren Sommero, and Marina Reppucci sailed at the Top 9 Regatta where they came in 15th.
Rain Rain Go Away
This past weekend, despite the rain all over the northeast, the team sailed in two regattas. The woman's team, skippers Amanda Johnson and Kelsi Schoenrock along with crews Amanda Veccione and Marina Reppucci, traveled up to Connecticut for the Stu Nelson Trophy. The girls placed fifteenth. A little further south the coed team, Halsey Richartz and Rafe Pilling skippering with Ali Zablocki and Lauren Summero at the front of the boats, sailed at Kings Point at the KP Dingy Open. Despite breezes of 20+ knots on Saturday, the team finished 9th out of 20, while Halsey and Ali managed to finish fourth in A division. Full results for the KP dingy open can be found here:

No Fall Break For The Sailing Team
While the rest of the university had a few days of rest, the sailing team was hard at work, competing in two different regattas. Rafe Pilling and Brittany Commins traveled with freshmen Christina Johns and Lauren Summero for their first regatta, Central Fall #2 at Washington college. Despite the cold and the rain, both boats finished 7th out of 13, a great result for the two freshmen in their first college regatta. Penn ended up 7th overall as well. A little farther south Halsey Richartz, Amanda Veccione, Marina Reppucci, Amanda Johnson, and Kelsi Schoenrock sailed FJ's and 420's while Mike Russom and Emma Kofmhel sailed Lasers in the Navy Fall Intersectional at Annapolis. They fought off cold and sickness and managed to finish 18th overall.
Intersectionals
This past weekend the Penn Sailing team sailed in two different intersectionals. The womens team, consisting of skippers Amanda Johnson and Kelsey Schoenrock, crews Amanda Veccione and Marnia Reppucci, and laser sailor Emma Kofmehl traveled south to Navy for the Women's intersectional. Unfortunately Emma got sick and was unable to compete, sailing only one race. Despite this, the rest of the girls sailed great and despite some windy conditions managed to finish in 13th. Meanwhile the coed team consisting of skippers Halsey Richartz and Mike Russom, with crews Ali Zablocki and Sophia Gerard traveled up to Hobart William Smith to sail in the HWS Intersectional. Despite shifty winds and tricky sailing conditions the team finished in 8th place.
Penn Sailing Hosts Philly Fleet Race
This weekend the sailing team hosted the Philly Fleet Race at the Corinthian Yacht Club. Every spot was filled as nine schools in all competed. Despite the fact that there was no wind the first day, on Sunday we were able to complete 7 races in each division. Mike Russom sailed with JT Sauls as his crew in A division and won every race but two. Sam Edleson sailed in his very first regatta along with Brittany Commins as his crew and the two had a great day as well. Penn finished 5th place overall.
Busy Weekend for the Team
This past weekend, September 26-27, we sailed in three different regattas. Mike Russom, Emma Kofmehl, and Rafe Pilling traveled down to Annapolis to sail in Laser South 2 and the Faye Bennet Regatta, both in lasers. In Laser South 2 Mike Finished 7th while Rafe ended up 16th. In the Faye Bennet, Emma ended up in 10th Place. Halsey Richartz, Ali Zablocki, Amanda Johnson and Kelsey Schoenrock sailed in the Hood Trophy where they came in 12th place.
OCC Qualifier, September 19th- September 20th
This weekend Skippers Halsey Richartz and Mike Russom along with their respective crews Ali Zablocki and Kelsey Schoenrock sailed at OCC for a qualifier for the War Memorial Trophy. Sailing A division Halsey and Ali came in fifth and in B Mike Russom, in his first regatta for the UPenn Sailing Team, and Kelsey came in first place. Finishing third overall, the team qualified for War Memorial Trophy on October 31st-November 1st.
